forgotten momentos

This series is based in Boulder, Colorado.

The Forgotten Mementos series is a collection of photographs that captures the human race. However, what separates this project from others with a similar goal, is the total lack of a physical human body. Instead, what is depicted are the little pieces of evidence that exist on any street corner in the world, which suggest the existence of a human being. Additionally, much can be learned about a person when viewing these little pieces of evidence. This includes their physical and mental health; their values and beliefs; and even their artistic sensibilities. For example, several of the images featured in this photo series showcase the primary liberal, or left-leaning, political views of the wider Boulder community.

Other than challenging past representations of humanity, the purpose of this photo series is to create a sense of relatability and/or detachment between the audience and the image. Since the identities of the people behind these little pieces of evidence are completely ambiguous, the audience is given the opportunity to project themselves and/or other to any narrative(s) that can be found within the photograph. For example, whose clothes are those that are hung up? A family member? A friend? Yourself? Or perhaps somebody you haven’t met.
